Dark and Stormy Flower
I took this photo of a California sunflower (also known as coast sunflower or California brittlebush) one evening while hiking, just as a storm was rolling in. It was truly a dark and stormy evening -- if not yet night -- lending a very different mood to what is usually considered a bright and cheerful, yellow wildflower.
Without the rain, we wouldn't have flowers. Without the dark, we wouldn't appreciate the light.
